Blossoms drop new single - ‘Meet Me In Love’

Back with a second single this year, Stockport-based band - Blossoms, have dropped a new track ‘Meet Me In Love’.
Firming their place as coining a Blossoms summer, the new song made sure we were “ready to go” with its 70s inspired groove weaved throughout.
Guitarist and lead vocalist, Tom Odgen, and drummer, Joe Donovan, appeared on Radio 1’s Hottest Records to release the track this evening.
Ogden, expressed: “It was all recorded live to tape at Tile House Studios.
“We didn't need to go to Nashville, we ventured just slightly more south.”
The song features more surprise guests, as we saw previously this year with ‘Joke About Divorce’ as indie powerhouse, Declan McKenna, can be heard on the closing vocals of the track.
The lads discussed how they had asked McKenna to the studio, having previously written with him, and he can also be seen in the music video.
Speaking of the new music video, it featured a new friend to the band, television presenter - Maya Jama, as the leading lady.
Donovan, told Radio 1 how they met Jama at the MTV EMAS, when it was hosted in Manchester. They attended an afterparty together, stayed in touch, and asked her on a whim.
Ogden, added: “We used to be in hibernation, made no friends, and now we’re going for it, and in our social era!”
‘Meet Me In Love’ begins with the lyrics - "without you my heart’s been breaking”, which is reflective of the electric guitar and a strong building drum percussion.
The 70s disco genre is prominent throughout this track, with a synthesiser crescendo into the chorus.
Lyrically, it's a playful track of longing for someone in whatever notion possible, and the besotment of falling for someone - pardon the Blossoms pun!
“Meet me in love
Won’t you let me show you girl?
I don’t like how long it’s taking, I,
the very thought of you’s contagious”
The closing bridge plays out as a cheeky tease, almost reflective of the other party’s reply to the track, and works especially well within the music video setting of Maya miming these lyrics.
The video features a large crescent moon, which could potentially be reminiscent of very early Blossoms, where they had a moon hanging on stage with them.
This comes after the release of ‘Joke About Divorce’ which released in April, and joined with this two stepping anthem, a disco blossoms album looks very promising.
The radio interview ended with an ominous message that the band will be making an announcement in a few days - so a new Blossoms album and tour could be in the near future! So, as the new tune states - if you're ready to go, pack up your bags!
