REVIEW: Haim ‘I Quit’ tour takes Manchester

Californian all-rounder sister group, Haim, returned to Manchester for an evening of multi instrumental magic at the Co-op Live.
The tour was in support of the group's fourth album - ‘I Quit’ which was released in June 2025 - a perfect time for all the summer girls!
The sisters haven’t performed in Manchester since their 2022 ‘One more Haim’ tour, and they expressed their excitement at being back in the city.
“I have to let everybody know this, that on every single tour that we’ve been on, we wait for Manchester!
“You guys are our favourite, and I tell you why, because you guys have the most beautiful voices, and you sing along real loud, and not only that - you dance your asses off!”
Este, Danielle, and Alana once again did not disappoint, and the arena was filled with fans old and new, who were watching in awe of their incredible musical abilities.
The sisters introduced an electric sign as their ‘fourth sister’, and used it for call and action throughout the performance. The red sign mirrors that of the branding off their recent ‘I Quit’ album release.
The sign was also a key feature of a tour tradition of this leg, as it is used to display an anecdote from an audience member, as to why they have quit relationships. This was well received with the Manchester crowd, with many chanting the summer hit ‘Relationships’, as the story displayed in red typography.
The setlist included many off their latest album including tracks ‘Gone’, ‘All over me’, ‘Take me back’, and ‘The Farm’.
Not forgetting, the exceptional rendition of ‘My Song 5’ - the bassline of which is purely superb, and one which many original Haim fans look forward to.
Haim consistently interacted with the crowd throughout the evening, and even got everyone twirling around during track ‘Spinning’, before going low and bouncing once the beat dropped.
Alana, also referred to as ‘Baby Haim’, downed a pint, and exclaimed “cheers to you, Manchester!” - which was met with adoring cheers from the audience.
Este, especially, was a trooper during the first half of the gig. Having been open with her challenges with type 1 diabetes, she addressed her low levels, and then came straight back on top form after replenishing with orange juice.
Este, later stated: “I love it here, you guys are really bringing me to life!”
Notably, the band's saxophone player, Nick Ellman, was also very talented, as he took to centre stage to play a solo, before the sisters returned to perform hit ‘Summer Girl’.
The group closed with big hit ‘The Wire’ from their debut album, followed by new track ‘Down to be wrong’ which was eagerly sung along to by the audience.
The UK leg was supported by Nell Mescal, who performed a great set, including songs from her recent EP ‘The Closest We’ll Get’. Her powerful voice is certainly one to watch, and she is returning to Manchester later this month on her own tour.
